RANCHI: A three-day national discussion on tribal existence and rights concluded in Ranchi with representatives from across India coming together to shape a policy framework aimed at strengthening tribal communities’ rights, protecting their natural resources and ensuring their future welfare.
Organized at the Dr. Ramdayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute, the workshop brought together delegates from more than 20 states to address key issues faced by tribal populations. The primary focus was on drafting a comprehensive National Tribal Policy that would guide governance, development and protection of tribal culture and livelihoods.
In the opening session, leaders from various tribal organizations emphasized growing inequalities, conflict over land and rapid depletion of natural resources that have displaced tribal communities from their ancestral territories.
