Having grabbed the top spot in the medals table, they did not let go, adding to their tally with an impressive haul of 7 medals in athletics that included 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. They took home a similar number in wrestling, but it included 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.

Odisha remained close on their heels and finished second in the table, but they went home with the satisfaction of having finished with more medals overall – higher at 54 than Karnataka’s 38. Most of Odisha’s medals came from athletics and swimming. They won 8 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze in athletics for a tally of 24, and 16 medals in swimming – 7 gold, 1 silver and 8 bronze. However, even in athletics, Odisha had to remain contended with the second spot, after Jharkhand.
