Exhibition of indigenous shields opens in Australian university

BRISBANE (Queensland, Australia): An exhibition featuring traditional indigenous shields has opened at the University of Queensland (UQ) here. The exhibition, titled “Shields: Design and functionality”, features more than 130 shields that have been traditionally used by the indigenous communities in Australia for demonstrations, conflict resolutions and symbolic warfare. The exhibition also features photographs of the people and places connected to the shields.

The exhibition will be open from February 23 to September 4, 2026.
