MACKAY (Queensland, Australia): New South Wales will face Victoria in the finals of the women’s division of the 2026 edition of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships (NICC). They will meet in the Finals Round 2 of the tournament on Sunday.
Victoria had already made it to the final match after topping the table among five teams, with 7 points from 4 matches (3 wins, 1 abandoned).
The remaining four teams – Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia – then competed in the Finals Round 1 matches on Saturday to decide who will face Victoria for the title.
New South Wales entered the final as they finished second in the table by virtue of their win against Western Australia. In the other match, Queensland beat South Australia, but did not make to the final as it finished fourth overall. Debutants South Australia finished last in the table.
New South Wales beat Western Australia by 9 wickets. Batting first, Western Australia scored 140 for 6 in 20 overs. Opener Mikayla Hinkley top scored with 65 off 44 balls (8 x 4). In reply, New South Wales reached 144 for 1 in 17.4 overs. Opener Roxsanne Van-Veen scored 61 off 51 balls (8 x 4, 1 x 6). Callee Black remained unbeaten on 49 off 30 balls (4 x 4, 1 x 6).
The final match will be played on Sunday in T20 format.
