NICC cricket: Wednesday’s matches abandoned

MACKAY (Queensland, Australia): All the matches in the men’s and women’s sections on the second day of the 2026 edition of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships (NICC) were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to inclement weather here on Wednesday.

In the men’s section, four matches of Round 3 were slated to be played, while in the women’s section, three matches of Round 2 were to be played on Wednesday.

In Round 3 of the men’s section, Northern Territory was to play Western Australia, South Australia was to face Tasmania, Queensland was slated to play New South Wales, and Victoria was to play PNG Barramundis.

Rounds 4 and 5 of the men’s section will be played on Thursday. In Round 4, Queensland will play Tasmania, South Australia will face PNG Barramundis, Northern Territory will play Victoria, and New South Wales will face Western Australia. In Round 5, Western Australia will play Tasmania, Northern Territory will play PNG Barramundis, Queensland will play South Australia, and New South Wales will play Victoria.

The three matches scheduled in Round 2 of the women’ section were South Australia versus New South Wales, Western Australia versus Victoria, and Queensland versus New South Wales.

Round 3 of the women’s section will be played on Thursday. The three matches scheduled are South Australia versus Western Australia, Victoria versus Queensland, and Victoria versus South Australia. The fourth and last match of Round 3 and the last match of the round-robin stage in the women’s section will be played between New South Wales and Western Australia on Saturday. The final match is scheduled for Sunday.
